Miss Lucy Jones
Lucy Jones is currently the Specialist Dietitian in bariatric surgery for the North London Obesity Surgery Service at the Whittington Hospital in North London. Her current role involves the education and nutritional counselling of patients undergoing gastric banding, sleeve gastrectomy and gastric bypass. Lucy sees patients through group education sessions and on an individual basis in clinic. She fully assesses patient's nutritional adequacy and makes recommendations to improve their diets, health and to maximise their weight loss. She is also actively involved in audit and research in bariatrics, striving for improved global knowledge.
Lucy has a wealth of experience in bariatrics having worked as a bariatric dietitian at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and at the Homerton Hospital, both in London. Prior to this, she worked as a general dietitian covering a wide range of specialties at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. Lucy has also held teaching posts in the past, acting as lead lecturer for nutrition for the Essence of Care course at Kensington Community College.
Lucy qualified in Human Nutrition and Dietetics from London Metropolitan University and is fully registered with the Health Professions council. She is a member of the British Dietetic Association (BDA) and has an additional role of Public Relations Officer for the London Branch of the BDA. Through this capacity, Lucy responds to many media enquiries as a spokesperson for the BDA including written press, radio and television. She is also an active member of the Association for the Study of Obesity, British Obesity and Metabolic Surgery Society and Association of Upper Gastrointestinal Surgeons.
